"And turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, 'Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave Me no kiss; but she since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss My feet. You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume. For this I reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgive, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.'"
Luke 7:36-38, 44-47
The woman didn't say anything, not one word. But Jesus saw the love in her actions, in her soul. Jesus forgave her of her sins.
Farther down in the chapter He tells her, "Your sins have been forgiven . . . Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
We can get hung up on words.
God doesn't.
Remember, God looks at the heart not at the outward person. He sees what is going on in the heart.
So, we could say the "Right" words, but if it isn't coming from the heart, what good are they?
We have to love, love, love, love. We have to love with all our hearts, souls, minds and strength. This is how we need to love God. And this is how we should love the people in our lives. We should love them with our actions, with our choices and yes, with our words when necessary.
Let go of the things that don't matter. Simon the pharisee had wealth, position, probably even some fame in his corner of the world, but when Jesus entered his home (his world), Simon wasn't changed -- at least at first. If he was changed after the scene I quoted above we don't know. I hope so.
